So, I've returned and I'm ready for more book reviews. It's been a while since my last post, that one being in March actually, and the goal for junior year is to update this blog every month. It's a task I'm willing to commit to starting now so here's my August update. If you couldn't tell by the title that's so long Dav Pilky felt it I was in Greece for about two weeks during this summer. While there I happened to be in Oia. It was an amazing trip and during it I went to Atlantis Book Store and nerded out over every little nook and cranny I found. My mom was into it, so we had a blast but my brothers were a little bored out themselves. Anyways here are some pictures of my time at Atlantis Book Store.

The book selection was massive and there were so many different genres I'm surprised it all fit into one book store. I got a couple books myself to remember that I went and what's really cool is that they stamp each book you buy and give you a bookmark for them as well. It's a neat little thing that they didn't have to do but they did anyways and I'm all for it. The books I got were: Turtles All The Way Down by John Green, Tales of the Greek Heroes by Roger Lancelyn Green, Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl, and Mythos by Stephen Fry. I've only just started Turtles All The Way Down but I do find it very captivating and might even do a review on it, hint hint.

While at Atlantis the staff and the customers were all very cool and I have nothing but positive words for them all. I met this guy named Craig (left in the picture) who worked there and he helped me selecting through some books and he was a great dude. We talked about our love of reading and things we liked and disliked in writing. Funny, chill guy who I had an exceptional time with while I was there. At Atlantis there's a dog named Billy who hangs out around the premises and while Craig was eating pizza he dropped about 3 slices and Billy had a feast on the floor. We were both rolling when that happened and afterwards because Billy became very hyper. Essentially, Craig's a great dude with a great doggo.

A quote I found very interesting was on a wall. Take it any way you deem fit.

While at Atlantis in the teen fiction section I found some books I had previously read. Wonder by R.J. Palacio is a book I'm sure almost everyone my age has had a crack at and when I read it the summer of 6th grade I enjoyed it to no end. The book on the right is The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night-Time by Mark Haddon. I read this book in school during 7th grade and it pretty good for what I remember. I recall it being a mystery novel and the main character was a little weird but other than that my memory fails me. I liked it so I might just pick it up again someday.

Because of the lighting the text may be hard to see but these books were all important as most were first editions in their respective series. These are the book covers that caught my eye and some I've already read (take a wild guess on which ones). The books were all intriguing but also cost several thousand euros so my eyes said yes but my wallet said no.

Here are some pictures of the interior of the store and man it was so fascinating. Not only was the place beautiful but the atmosphere was amazing with it. I was surrounded by people who had the same interest as me and who were happy just being there and you could really tell because everyone was so ecstatic when they talked. The store was just a marvel to look at.

There's a timeline of of the bookstore's origin to present day that I found very interesting and inspiring. Sometimes we can forget that so many things start off just as ideas and people act upon them and then we get to where we are today. This timeline had such an impact on me and I think that's because it gave me a reminder that I could do this myself if I had a dream big enough and really had a passion behind it. I could have something like this if I really wanted to and worked hard for it and I believe that's an important message to give to aspiring writers everywhere. This bookstore made my dreams and ambitions feel plausible. They're not just stupid maybe's but are things that can change a persons life. That's my goal, to inspire and help others through my writing. It'll happen someday but I believe this trip was a reminder to me that I can do it. I got a little sentimental but this whole bookstore is amazing and I wish it the greatest amount of success possible so it can continue to influence readers and writers of all ages. All in all a great trip.

I await your passion...
